Kuldeep Gurjar is the son of Darshan Singh Gurjar and Neeti Singh. He was born in Rajasthan and went to school in Udaipur, followed by the college in Jaipur. Kuldeep is a graduate of Bachelor of Arts (BA) and holds a Masters in social work (MSW).

He started his political career when he contested for elections in Chandigarh Lok Sabha constituency on a ticket from Indian National Congress (INC). He won the election with a margin of over 360,000 votes and became the youngest MP ever elected from Chandigarh.

After serving for five years as an MP, Kuldeep lost his seat to BJP candidate Anil Sharma by a margin of 12000 votes in the 2019 general elections.

Since January 2019, he has been appointed as the chief spokesperson of the INC party in Rajasthan.

Born in 1969 in Jhunjhunu, Rajasthan, he is an alumnus of National College for Men, Jaipur. He then joined MA (Political Science) at Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda and completed it with distinction in 1994.

Kuldeep’s political journey started when he joined the All India Congress Committee in 1995 as an assistant secretary at AICC headquarters, New Delhi. In 1996, he became an adviser to Shrimati Hemvati Nandan Bahuguna and later on became general secretary for Uttar Pradesh where he was responsible for handling party affairs and organization building activities during the 1998-2004 period. Kuldeep Gurjar was the youngest parliamentarian in Lok Sabha when he represented the Chandigarh constituency. He is also the first person in India to be elected to parliament for five consecutive terms, all of which were unopposed.

Before contesting for elections in 2009, Kuldeep served as the managing director of Dhoot Group of Companies. He was also associated with various other social and educational institutions.
